An Amazing Acupuncture Testimonial!

Last year, I injured my back while attempting to strike a spine extension pose during a yoga class. In all fairness, I pushed well beyond "my edge" which instructors caution about at the start of each class. While coming out of the pose, I immediately knew something was very wrong when I felt a most unpleasant shift in my lower back. Every time I move or changed positions over the past year, I could feel a clicking accompanied by shooting pain. I felt I had made some real progress powering through the pain by not wincing in front of other people. For the first time, I had a very real understanding of back pain. I also knew that taking pain medication would not be an option if this was to be a chronic condition.

 

Of all the possible treatment options and learning of Dr. Nasr's credentials, extensive training, and excellent reputation, I decided to make an appointment for Medical Acupuncture at Heaven and Earth Medi Spa in Lusby. Honestly, I was a little skeptical about whether or not this treatment would show any positive results and slightly squeamish about the needles. 

 

 

While speaking with Dr. Nasr about the injury and continual pain, I was immediately impressed with his kind and caring demeanor, his willingness to really listen and answer my questions, and his honesty. The needles (which are small, by the way) were inserted at various location on my body. I couldn't help but wonder why he hadn't inserted needles into my back, at the precise location of the pain. He dimmed the lights and exited the treatment room for some time until it was time to have the needles removed.

 

At first, I felt relaxation to the point of exhaustion. Aside from that, nothing else seemed to happen until a few hours later when I felt bruised, not pain, in my lower back. This sensation continued through the following day, again, with no jolting pain. From that point onward, the sensation and pain ceased. How cool is THAT?! I have returned to Heaven & Earth for another acupuncture treatment for an unrelated issue and won't hesitate to return as need be. What can I say ... I have become a big believer in Medical Acupuncture and am tremendously grateful to have found such an experienced practitioner in Dr. Nasr.

Renewal and Regeneration via The Colon

If the gut is not working properly,

Today's topic is one which people readily prefer to keep to themselves. Have you ever noticed that when your bowel movements are out sync, you are not at your best? That feeling of weighted down lethargy is all consuming, radiating out to all parts of your body from your core. You have tried a number of chemicals, laxatives, and synthetic drugs to regain regularity and your composure. If the positive effects are short lived, perhaps it time to try something knew ~ Colon Hydrotherapy.

 

Did you know:

 

~ A healthy colon produces at least two full bowel movements per day and notes a transition time of eight hours to 23 hours from stomach to rectum. It is responsible for a large portion of your daily life-force.

 

~ Fifty percent of your immune system, fifty percent of your detoxification mechanism, and ninety-five percent of your brain-balancing serotonin is created and stored in the gut.

 

~ Years of exposure to cell damaging artificial sweeteners, refined sugars, hydrogenated fats, fast foods, food preservatives, food colorings, irradiated food products, hormones, antibiotics, steroids and refined carbohydrates render our digestive system ineffective at best. Although our society is becoming more aware of the dangers of processed foods, simply correcting our eating habits is not enough.

We must also work to rid the colon of fecal matter, impactions and mucoid plaque that accumulate as a result of the unhealthy consumption. As these things collect within the intestines and adhere to the lining, they prevent the absorption and proper synthesis of key nutrients needed to sustain life. The key to life is the renewal and regeneration of cells within the human body. Slow and sluggish systems simply age us faster.

 

 

The Treatment

 

The Colonic begins when a client enters a private room for and interview, a demonstration and instruction on how to prepare for the colon hydrotherapy session.

 

The therapist leaves the room so the client can undress from the waist down, get situated on the hydrotherapy unit and insert the disposable rectal tube. Once situated, the client will cover themselves up and page the therapist.

 

Once the therapist returns, further instruction is given and the session begins. Warm, filtered, purified, gravity-fed water is introduced into the colon and the cleansing begins. As the water is introduced into the colon, a slight pressure sensation or mild cramping will be felt at the area of the sigmoid colon. At that time, the client will simply bear down as if they were having a normal bowel movement. Water and waste matter is evacuated into the basin of the hydrotherapy unit and smell is withdrawn through a vent fan located on the drainpipe. The cycling of water into the colon and waste matter evacuation will occur for 30 to 45 minutes in each session. The total amount of water used in a session is approximately four to six gallons.

 

The Suggested Treatment Regimen:

 

* Session 1 followed within 24 hours by Session 2

 

* Wait 5-7 days for Session 3, followed within 24 hours by Session 4

 

* Wait 5-7 days for Session 5

 

* Wait 5-7 days for Session 6

 

This regimen is set up to work with the body's own toxin release instinct.

The number of treatment cycles needed is determined by the individual level of toxicity.

Always make the hydrotherapist aware of hemorrhoids, internal and external, the use of laxatives, and timing of menstrual cycle or diarrhea.

To Prepare 
 

1. Limit plucking, waxing, and electrolysis for six weeks before treatment.

 

2. Avoid sun exposure for six weeks before and after treatment.

 

The Procedure
 

1. The laser equipment will be adjusted according to the color, thickness, and location of your hair being treated as well as your skin color.

2. You and our nurse/laser tech, Maureen Mussomele will both wear appropriate eye protection.

3. A cold gel will be applied so the laser light will penetrate the skin.

4. A pulse of light will be administered to the treatment area. From that moment, Maureen will watch the area for several minutes to gage the best settings and to check your skin for any adverse reactions.

5. If you happen to experience any discomfort after the procedure, we may apply ice packs, anti-inflammatory creams or lotions, or cold water.

6. We recommend that follow-up treatments be scheduled four to six weeks later. The number of treatments varies patient to patient.

 

Afterward

 

~ The treated area of your skin will look and feel like it's sunburned for possibly one to two days. We recommend cool compresses and moisturizers.

~ The unwanted hair from the areas treated will fall out over the next month.

~ To help prevent temporary changes in the color of the treated skin, remember to wear sunscreen for the next month.
